reminder
Friday, June 30th, 2006my holiday is coming to an end, and all is good. i’d like to think that of all the holidays i’ve had throughout my academic years, this is one of the best.
i spent this holiday working as an accountant for a construction company. being the accountant, i was aware of every single cent of money flowing in and out.
it is while doing this work that i came to realize one of mankind’s many frailties. some seemingly respectable people actually live their lives by stealing (filtering money here and there so that finally it all ended up being in their pockets instead of in the rightful owner’s). they’re not poor, no, far from it in fact. each one of them has more than enough to get by.
the only logical reason i could come up with (and trust me, yours would be exactly the same, should you be in my place); they have fallen to the temptation of money and power. these two things can be dangerously addictive if you can’t control them. i’ve seen firsthand how sinfully sweet the temptation can be and how horribly bitter the effect is on those who fell to it.(you can’t run away from karma)
lest we forget, let us all remind ourselves..not to be tempted.
